If you would like to join before the deadline, simply show up to class wearing proper practice attire (discussed below). You will be required to sign a general Rec Sports participation waiver before you practice. The form will be available from the instructor or a senior student.
Practice Attire
If you do not own a gi, you may wear comfortable workout clothes. Long pants are recommended to prevent mat burn on
your knees. Due to the nature of grappling, clothing occasionally gets stretched and torn. Please keep this in mind
when deciding what to wear to practice.
Prior to class, please remove all rings, bracelets, anklets, earrings, watches and other body ornaments. These can be dangerous to you and to people whom you are working out with.
If you decide to continue practicing with the club you will need to purchase a gi. Heavyweight gis are usually ordered a month or two into each semester. They generally cost around $30. An announcement will be made in class before orders are sent out.
Lightweight gis are not recommended. They are not sturdy enough for throwing and grappling.

Dues
Dues are $25 per semester or $40 a year.
You do not need to pay dues immediately in order to participate in regular practice. Dues are generally collected a month or two into each semester.
We may make allowances for club members who have trouble meeting the financial obligation. Please contact the instructor if this is the case for you.
Location
Unless otherwise specified, workouts are in Room 3220 (behind the bleachers of the pool) at the Natatorium.
A searchable on-line campus map is available.
